The Data that supports my Essay (First Task)


  1.   The data were gotten from observation, document analysis and test. The essay test was the instrument used to assess the students’ critical thinking which later adopted the model of the Holistic Critical Thinking Scoring Rubric (HCTSR). The result of the study showed that using of hoax news significantly improve the students’ critical thinking followed by the development of interpretation, analysis and identification ability. The number students posed strong thinking increased from 6.45% to 72,2%.
  2. Common Sense, a media that supports the education of children and parents conducted a survey of 853 children aged 10-18 years in the United States in early 2017. From a survey of 853 children, 44 percent said they could adjust between hoax or not. However, 31 percent still doubt the truth of the news that they have shared with others.
  3. From the same survey (Common Sense), it was found that 39 percent had a preference for finding news sources in online media, compared to 36 percent of respondents who sought news sources from family, teachers or friends and 24 percent from traditional media such as television, newspapers and radio.
  4. Septiaji Eko Nugroho (Chair of the Indonesian Anti Hoax Society) outlines the identification steps into five simple stages, including:
  •  Be careful with provocative titles, because unscrupulous individuals often affix profocative sensational titles so that readers are able to get carried in the direction the hoaxes want them to.
  • Pay attention to the address of the site that spreads the news, if it comes from a site that has not been verified as a press site, then the information disseminated is somewhat dubious. As for sites that are verified as official news sites, currently the number has not reached 300 sites out of tens of thousands of sites that spread information through cyberspace.
  • Check the facts and make sure the news we read is not an opinion, because opinions are only opinions and impressions of news writers. We are able to confirm the facts through the parties concerned with the news Check the authenticity of the photo carefully, because the hoax spreader often convinces the reader with the edited photo.
  • Participate in anti-hoax discussion groups that circulate on Facebook or other large sites. Because in it we are able to get truth clarification from other colleagues who are more knowledgeable about the news.

Nowadays technology has been using by everyone in the world. The faster technology is progressing, the faster news is spreading. News is same as the knowledge, we can get it from anywhere and from anyone. But the bigger problems is, does the news is true or false? due to that problem, we know that not everyone in this country can analyse the true of the news. As a students, we should to know how students against the hoax. The data were gotten from observation, document analysis and test. When you get the new news from other people or from other sources. What should people do? most of us probably believe the news at the first. But, for a students we should to know the news first. What exactly that news talking about. Why we need to do that? because It will improve our knowledge about that news. So that we will more understand about the news.

The last step after you know the news and drill a lot the information about it, we should to able to analyse the news based on our data and our information. To analyse the news maybe we can discuss with other or with our friends. After all, we know that the news is true or just hoax.

So guys, being a people which have more education than other. We can distinguish between the true news and hoax. We also can reduce the spread of hoax. Be a student who can contribute to many people in the problem of spreading the news.

In this era technology was using by everyone. We can get the news by using technology so easily from several sourceses and other people. But, does that news true or false? Based on the observation that already done by document and test, the result mention how using hoax news can developing the student’s critical thinking from 6.45% to 72,2%.

If we get the new news, student do not quickly believe it. Student need to know about the news before believe or share the news. Common Sense as a media that supports the education of children and parents was survey of 853 children and got the result that, 44 % said that they can adjust between hoax  and true news, and 31 % still doubt.

After that, student has to drill a lot the information about that news from several sourches, people, and other. According to the survey by Common Sense, they said that 39% children had found the news from online media, meanwhile 36% other had found from the family, teachers or friend, and 24% rest of it found from traditional media. Student has to do it to improve our knowledge and make them understand about the news.
Last, student must be able to analyse the news based on the data and information that they found. Discuss with other people, friend, family, and other to get more information. So that student will easily to determine the news is real or hoax.

Well as human who have knowledge, student must be able to know about the news which spreading in public. Stop the hoax with doing this tips.
